Do you use food as a reward after a long day? Then today’s episode is for you 🙂Â
If you find yourself using food as a reward (“I deserve those cookies, I just got through a long day”), then you are not alone!
Food often becomes our reward for getting through an exhausting day. It becomes our substitute for “me” time and it fills in as a “prize” because we did 157 things on our long to-do list.
Today’s podcast dives in to looking at how we use food and gives you quick, actionable questions to ask yourself so you can begin to let go of eating as a reward!
Growing up, we learn that food is a reward.
When we are ‘good’ and adhere to the rules, we get a treat.
If we eat all of our vegetables, we are allowed to have dessert.
When we play nice with our siblings, we get rewarded with a cookie.
From these experiences, we learn to associate food with rewarding ourselves. And then we grow up not knowing how to give ourselves a reward other than food!
**Two other common struggles include eating when you’re bored (find that post here) and overeating at night (find that post here).
